Masked Heros (2020)

"Masked Heroes" Documentary by the HPU's Media Fellows

This was a short documentary the Fellow's wrote, shot, and edited for our school's 2020 "Building Bridges" Competition. The goal was to create a production that showed connectivity between groups or concepts. This production came in second place.

 

In two towns over from High point, NC is Winston-Salem. During the height of the pandemic, three women came together and organized a huge community effort to provide masks for local hospitals, families, and businesses there. This is their story!

It was such a challenge to produce a project like this SAFELY during a pandemic. It was very important to us that we created it following state-mandated protocols of social distancing and gathering requirements. We were very proud to be able to see its completion. My only qualm... I wanted way more b-roll, but our deadline was fast approaching so we made do with what we had.
